Full details and link to applyMFRP Website and Application Portal
Deadline: Rolling admissions for students who 1) speak proficient Spanish or Arabic 2) have a 3.0 GPA or above and 3) 3rd year or higher standing. Regular admission deadline September 15. Students are encouraged to apply early for full consideration.
The MFRP is a year-long, community-based research practicum on Latinx immigrants and social justice. Many students say it’s one of their most meaningful experiences in college.
In 2026-2027, we will partner with immigrant justice organizations in the US-Mexico border region to look at the theme of Reimagining Refuge. Students will be placed as interns with partner organizations. They will profile the organizations’ work to build alternatives to the current US immigration system.
The MFRP satisfies practicum requirements for 6th (ELO), 7th (high impact), and 8th (Critical community engagement). It counts toward the USP, Chicanx and Latinx Studies Studies, and Sociology majors. And it makes up most of the UCSD Human Rights & Migration minor. All costs are covered for you.
Undocumented or DACA students are encouraged to apply and may reach out to the director privately about additional financial support.
